Outline

A communication is successful when a message has been sent and received without much distortion. Messages conveyed badly by the sender or misinterpreted by the receiver prevent ideas and thoughts being expressed correctly and causes confusion and misunderstandings. The aim of this course is to minimise such distortions, increase the effectiveness of your communications with others and in doing so raise your ability to impart information, thoughts, ideas and opinions in a logical, methodical and appropriate manner.

By listening, actively and reflectively to others, using the appropriate filters of understanding, non judgemental, pre-conceived perceptions, you can respond with confidence, tact and sincerity, without devaluing your own self-respect and self-esteem.

Appreciating the importance of understanding and reading body language enables you to use your own body language more effectively and appropriately to enhance and reinforce your verbal communication. It also allows you to assess and interpret the body language of others more efficiently and obtain the complete picture and mindset that is missing in their verbal communication.

Learn a range of techniques to allow you to quickly build and adapt a rapport with others, that gains respect, credibility, empathy and trust. By being aware of the behaviour traits of others, their past experiences and perceptions, one is able to make a more accurate assessment in an appropriate and weighted manner.

Who should attend?

This course is designed for individuals who have already attended our ‘Effective Communications Skills’ course, via their current roles or circumstances and feel they would like to enhance their current levels of communications skills, raising them to a higher understanding and practical application.

  • Understand the different phases of the communications process, recognise and identify where barriers and roadblocks to effective communication can occur and why.

  • Learning to read and utilise the subtle language that the face and body portray about your true thoughts, beliefs and intentions.

  • Recognise and understand why people behave in the way that they do, knowing the reasons behind why behaviour affects our communication processes and responses, helps us to prepare and respond more appropriately and effectively to others.

  • Understanding the relationship between peoples’ internal and external world. How people interpret and see the environment around them and map their world accordingly. Using a range of communication channels and styles to send and receive information to and from others for maximum effect and benefit.
